Questions

What is a phrasal verb?

A phrasal verb is a verb and a small word such as up, out or off. Together they often have a new meaning. Give up means stop trying. Turn down an offer means refuse it.

Why are phrasal verbs so hard to learn?

The small word often looks random. Sink In groups verbs by what the particle does. For example, up can show an increase: prices go up, you speed up. When you see the pattern, new verbs are easier to guess and remember.

Is Sink In free?

Yes. You can download Sink In and start learning for free on iPhone and Android. No card is required. Sink In Pro gives you every particle and verb, all topic lessons and an unlimited study list.

Which English level is Sink In for?

Sink In is for learners from B1 who want to reach B2, C1 and C2. Every meaning has a CEFR level. Where possible, the level is checked against Cambridge and Oxford learner dictionaries.

Does Sink In help with Cambridge, IELTS and TOEFL?

Yes. Sink In has exam topics for Cambridge English (B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency), IELTS and TOEFL, with practice in the style of each exam. Sink In is independent and is not linked to the exam boards.

How long does practice take each day?

A daily session is short enough for a coffee break. Sink In uses spaced repetition, so each verb comes back just before you are likely to forget it. You can set a daily or weekly goal.
